Well it seemed almost unfair to miss out on a years full of amazing one liners and quips — so I thought I only fair to make a list of the Top 10 Quotes Of 2010. If your social life revolves around quoting movie dialogue to your friends around the clock — lats how it goes, in my circle there is a million and one situations where we’ve wanted to say something but instead yarned endlessly on the dialogue from our favorite films. Thankfully, 2010 was no exception and I think those few films deserve some recognition.
You’ll notice that the list is dominated mostly by Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
quotes — because frankly every line in that film is pure gold. Don’t hate me for it, but really it’s either that or campy Clash quotes. So enjoy my list of Scott Pilgrim quotes plus one or two other one-liners!
MR. BRUCE’S TOP 10 QUOTES OF 2010
in no particular order
- “Dreams feel real while we’re in them. It’s only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.” – Cobb, Inception
- ” I know we’re all afraid. But my father told me: someday, someone was gonna have take a stand. Someday, someone was gonna have to say enough! This could be that day. Trust your senses. And don’t look this bitch in the eye.” Perseus, Clash of The Titans
- ” We are Sex Bob-Omb and we are here to make you think about death and get sad and stuff. ” – Scott Pilgrim, SPvTW
- “If I peed my pants would you pretend that I just got wet from the rain? ” – Scott Pilgrim, SPvTW
- “Look, I didn’t write the gay handbook. If you got a problem with it, take it up with Liberace’s ghost. ” – Wallace Wells, SPvTW
I think it’s fairly certain that the Oscar for best visual effects has its work cut out for it, with no clear cut as to a winner. Christopher Nolan‘s mind-bending heist flick Inception and Joseph Kosinski‘s yet-to-be released visual wonder Tron: Legacy are all amongst the mix of brilliantly styled effects driven films of this year!
It’s always great when finalists are announced for the hotly debated award, as it gives us movie-geeks time to decide amongst ourselves whether a Polar Bear can really trump a 32foot tall robot. Or whether the U.S.S Enterprise can dominate Pandora. These amongst the hotly debated topics on the Oscars agenda, before the final announcement of nominees in February. And thats only one award!!
Well its time to get your movie face on people, as the top 15 finalists for the Best Visual Effect’s Oscar have been announced by The Academy! And the finalists are…..
1 ~ Alice In Wonderland
2 ~ Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
3 ~ Clash of the Titans
4 ~ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
5 ~ Hereafter
6 ~ Inception
7 ~ Iron Man 2
8 ~ The Last Airbender
9 ~ Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
10 ~ Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
11 ~ Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
12 ~ Shutter Island
13 ~ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
14 ~ Tron: Legacy
15 ~ Unstoppable
In the end only three nominees will remain, with the list being narrowed down to just 7 in January next year — with the final three being announced January 25 at 5:30 A.M. PT, live from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. So we can all look forward to hearing a hell of a lot more Oscar buzz before the 83rd Academy Awards, which is to be held at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood on February 27, 2011. I can anticipate at least a few high hopes for the awards, with my top three being:
My Oscar Pick #1 ~ Tron: Legacy
My Oscar Pick #2 ~ Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
My Oscar Pick #3 ~ Inception
Because of the large amount of CG and visual effects used in the majority of all three I think that at least two of the three will make it through to the final round, the two I’m fairly certain about are Nolan’s Inception and the yet to be released Tron: Legacy. Nolan’s Inception because it had some of most mind-boggling and sheer fantastic effects of the year, and Tron simply because of the hype generated by the technology available today being used for the film which has the capacity to make a young Jeff Bridges! So really theres no definitive winner here, in some ways where going to lose because of the close call that is having to be made.
So for now, heading into Christmas we have two months or so to get out of the way before we have any results, so stick around for more updates on the road to the Oscar’s! Stay tuned for more as it comes!

Here is the result of 100,000 likes on the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World page on Facebook. Which in my books is black mail, but oh well..it is finally here! And I might say Im looking forward to this a whole lot more. We get the whole picture, which the las trailer didn’t give us. So if you don’t know what the comics or movie is about (like me), then this will be a breathe of fresh air. Enjoy!
