While I’ve been away it seems theres been a major leap in superdude news – with the release of two major costumes in upcoming super-hero flicks – with this latest being the very first image of Andrew Garfield in costume as Spider-Man released by Sony! And it looks pretty damn awesome!
Below we have the pic of what our new friendly neighborhood Spider-man is going to look like in Marc Webb‘s still untitled reboot of the web-slinger franchise. Judging by the pic a mask is still probably in the design phase, but of what we can see we have our finest yet Spidey guise — as you can see, theres been a few major changes to the classic look we know and identify with.
This is not our first pic of Garfield however, as several set-photos of the actor have appeared online, but still this is the first glimpse of Garfield in costume. On the other hand we’ve seen plenty of co-star and Spidey love interest, Gwen Stacy, played by actress Emma Stone.
So it’s out with spandex tights? It seems that not only is the film getting a reboot, but so too is the costume — as the Tobey Maguire suit we grew to know so well has gone under a reboot of its own. One question that will have to answered later is why the hell does Pete Parker looks so bruised and battered?
But what is evident is that they’re going for a mare organic looking costume, with a few modifications; such as the logo and the material. And the major rejig of design pattern of the overall suit, which caters for the change in body type underneath it — a more lankier/linear Garfield over a shorter, stockier Toby Maguire.
So oviously theres been a bit more thought gone into this itteration of the iconic Spidey digs, and its shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with. Check out the awesome pick below, and let us know what you think! As always, enjoy!

Now I’m a huge fan of the Watchmen comics, and the movie adaption was pretty damn awesome if you ask me. Zack Snyder literally blew my mind, he did what he did with Frank Miller’s 300 — he turned something already pretty bad-ass into a bad mutha-f*$%er. And if you payed close enough attention you will have written down another thing on your list of nerd-must-haves: Rorschach’s shifting mask.
Now you can cross that bad boy of your list next to Holograms, ‘cus some inspired little genius by the name of youtube user guinness0507, who happens to own a paint company called Paint With Pearl, figured out how to put together his own moving Rorschach mask! And viola, success! Check out the awesome vid below! It’s not quite as good as the CG mask used by Jackie Earl Haley but still its better than the lame painted on ones fanboys wear at halloween.
The ongoing discussion as to the fate of Chris Nolan‘s character Cobb in dream-heist film Inception is going strong — is Cobb dreaming when he wakes up on the plane and returns to his kids?….or is he wide awake? Will we ever really know? Probably not, but then again Nolan is one to make us think — and personally I think he relishes it!
If you haven’t seen Inception yet, then don’t bother reading on, but if you have then surely you will know that at the end of the film when Cobb(played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and his team leave the airport, Cobb is let back into the country and taken back to his house by his father who we see earlier in the film. When he arrives Cobb after seeing his kids playing outside, naturally spins his totem on his dinner table and leaves it to spin going to meet his kids. But alas as Cobb is reunited with his kids, we see a close-up of his totem continually spinning — but it starts to wobbly slightly and it fades into credit before we get to see it topple.
The question is, was it all a dream in the first place and Cobb wasn’t in fact reunited with his “real” kids or was he finally home after all that time. Personally I think that there is no definitive answer, which is what I think Nolan was aiming for. But is you payed attention a little better the second time round (like I did) then you will clearly notice the similarity between his kids clothes and general attire through out the film. So what do you think?
To add to the confusion, and give some kind of evidence to it not being a dream The Playlist has uncovered a interview with Inception‘s costume designer Jeffery Kurland who claims that, even though the kids cothes appear to be the same they are in fact different, saying “the children’s clothing is different in the final scene… look again…”I mean hell his is the designer, so if anyone should know then hes te guy. But still its seems a little easy to say that they’re in fact not the same, but really it’s up to you to form your own opinion — as for me I’m still unsure.
So far we haven’t seen anything of the Hal Jordan super suit for Ryan Reynolds — simply because its fully CG, but thanks to Entertainment Weekly we have some pretty BIG news. Our very first look at Ryan Reynolds in the official Green Lantern suit!! And it looks awesome!
This is all coming before next weeks Comic-Con, so what a way to kick off the end of the week and increase the hype. In EW we see Reynolds as cover boy for the Comic-Con preview article strutting it in the green suit and ring of power. This is especially beleaguering as we haven’t actually seen anything as far because of the mostly CG suit. But what a result. Enjoy!
Following in the footsteps of super squad member Captain America, Thor has emerged from the concept boards and is here online. Early yesterday we reported the news that concept art for Chris Evan’s Captain America had leaked online following a detailed description from Joblo a day earlier. Although Cap’s costume isn’t quiet what we expected – no stripes wings or awesome boots – but I think that any progress is good progress. This time its fellow Avengers team member Thor’s turn to make a online appearance, and he’s not the only Marvel super dude to make it to the big screen next sumemr.
Thanks to Collider we have a seemingly official full concept of Kenneth Branagh‘s Thor, and compared to Cap’s concept it looks legit. But until confirmed we can’t say. Thor is looking to make a May 2011 release, but not specific date has been released. One thing I will say is if this indeed official, I’m a little bemused. I mean it seems like Marvel is ditching everything that I like about its original characters. The sparkle that we saw in Captain America’s costume has been traded in for a more basic and functional model. And as for Thor – where’s the helmet? Feathers seem to be on the Marvel Studios no-go list this time round. Check out the pics below.
