What I love about Liam Neeson as an actor is that no matter what film he’s in, whether it fails or not he always seems to come out on top — he steals the show, and lets face it he’s become one of the IT factors for successful films these days. We last saw him in The A-Team as Colonel Hannibal Smith and in Clash Of The Titans as olympian god Zeus, but now Neeson has been cast in the upcoming Universal Studio’s adaption of the popular board-game Battleship.
It seems to me that when starting of his career, Neeson wen’t for more Drama oriented films — going for the deeper films. But now as his career seems to grow, he has thrown aside the drama and traded it in for some wholesome action and thrillers. Yesterday (or today depending where you are in the world) filming capped off for the Michael Bay produced action adventure beneath director Peter Berg. Deadline reports that actor Neeson, 58, will star alongside Alexander Skarsgaard, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker — playing Admiral Shane.
Based loosely on the board game, Battleship follows A fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals — so not very siilar to the game, which is a good thing…trust me. Shooting for the film has begun in Hawaii, so in the next few days (or week) we should be getting some set pics — so stay tuned for more from filming of Battleships.
