Peter Venkman’s Love-Child To Feature As Lead In Ghostbusters 3! And Other Ghost Bustin’ News

Wow, it has really been ages since we last heard anything on production of Ghostbusters 3 – so naturally I assumed that it was dead by now – but according to Bloody Disgusting we not only have confirmation but we now have plot details!

As we all know Colombia Pictures’ will be introducing a new team of faces for their third Ghostbusters installment, so it’s no real big surprise to hear that according to the guys over at BD, the second sequel will centre around the love-child of Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) and Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) who will take the reigns of his father ghost bustin’ business.

It was only a matter of time before we got the scoop on the plot, and now we have it. We’ve been told that love-child Oscar and at the age of 20ish will take over the family business and step into the shoes of the former Ghostbusters suits and bring together a fresh generation of over-all wearing, photon-blasting bad-ass’ for the third round of ectoplasmic goodness.

Which sounds all to much like Spielberg‘s Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, which introduced Indy love child Mutt Williams who became Jones’ sidekick for the film and seemed to want to take over the Hat and Whip — which by the way dimmed my view of the Indy films. So lets just hope that that doesn’t become an issue for Ghostbusters 3!

As far cast goes, in addition to the four original G-men we have Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis (who will come out of retirement for the role) returing also — so it should be good to see some old (being the operative word) familiar faces as well as some new ones. So far the news is still to fresh for any predictions on who will be playing Oscar or any of the other fresh-faced Ghostbusters — and for that matter we have not idea how far the film is in production, and if I had to guess it would be not that far. So stick around because I think it’s awhile yet till be be actually be seeing the ghost-bustin outfit on screen short of a special cinema showing.
