Wholly Smokes! No Mary Jane For Spider Man!?!? New Love-Interest In Store For Spidey Reboot

What is this world coming to! No Mary Jane for Spiderman!? I mean thats like taking the peanut butter out of PB and J! But all seriousness we have our Spiderman for director Marc Webb‘s upcoming Spidey reboot — in actor Andrew Garfield but now casting for Peter Parkers/Spidey love interest has begun and reports say that’s its not for the character of lovable red-head Mary Jane!

If your a fan of the comics – like I’m obviously not – then you’ll naturally search google for the next in line to the Peter Parker chamber throne and by my books its Gwen Stacey. The character which first appeared in the films by the third (which was significantly the last, and the worst), predominately appeared in the comics and was originally Parker’s first love — even before the character of Mary Jane. Gwen was played by Bryce Dallas in Sam Raimi‘s Spiderman 3 — whether its Stacey or a completely new character we won’t know for some time.

As for casting rumors, fingers a pointing towards Mary Elizabeth Winstead who recently stared in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, is one of the first known aspirants for the unkown role who has official dropped out of the running, with other rumored candidates including actress’ Lily Collins, Ophelia Lovibond, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots and Emma Roberts. Which can be seen in a spectrum below (thanks to Screen Rant):

With the most of the actress’ in line being youth full enough to pull off someone around Garlfields age (or at least how young he looks). Emma Roberts being my pick, personally I think shes the most unlikely of the group because of the blond factor of the bunch but then again when has Hollywood picked by looks — win wink cough cough. But really the blond factor isn’t that much of a biggy, when dying could be an option — as Kirsten Dunst dyed her hair for the part of Red-head Mary Jane Watson. As for who the mystery love-interest is for the upcoming reboot — I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Stay tuned for more info as it comes!
