Its been ages since I heard any news for the English adaption of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling Millennium Trilogy, starting off with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo but now we have news that Sony has found there computer hacking bad-ass/goth chick Lisbeth Salander — in 24 year-old actress Rooney Mara.
Sony, after one of the most talked about casting choices in recent history, has announced that actress Rooney Mara will play detective Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher‘s english adaption of the popular book series. Mara, who recently appeared in the Platinum Dunes Nightmare On Elm Street remake (which rocked) and with Fincher’s The Social Network. So if you loved her in either roles, then it should only be an indication of what to expect.
Casting for the role has ranged from Natalie Portman (who reportedly screened for the role last week), Mara, Ellen Page, Carey Milligan and Scarlett Johansson. With the majority of young actress in hollywood gunning for the role. Rooney will star alongside Daniel Craig for the three films, including The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. We don’t know for sure, but the first film will start filming next month — with a December 2011 release in mind. So stay tuned for more as it comes!
