Pride And Prejudice And Zombies is one of those rare novels that can manage to pull of such a gut-busting scenario, getting one of Jane Austin’s classics and plonking a horde of flesh-hungry zombies to stir up some trouble is no easy feet — but Quirk Classics under the reign of talented writer Seth Grahame-Smith has done just that and pulled it off brilliantly. It was optioned last year by Natalie Portman, that she will produce and star in an adaption of the novel — with David O. Russell on script and director duty. Sounds good to me!
Over at MTV’s splash page, editor Rick Marshall spoke with Portman at San Diego Comic last month, about the film – which she was only happy to report on. “We just got a new draft from David O. Russell, who is adapting it and is going to direct it,” she said. “I’m such a big fan of his. ‘Flirting With Disaster’ is one of my favorite movies, and ‘Three Kings’ and pretty much everything he does is incredible.” While she was happy to talk progress wise, and give us a little opinion she was however not to keen on giving us any other casting past herself.
Portman said clearly that progress was clearly on the roll, and that “We’ll probably be shooting next year, hopefully.” You can view the rest of the interview below, thanks to MTV for embedded video.
