The Social Network Blocked From Advertising On Facebook…..Ahhh The Sweet Smell Of Irony

Well this is something I wouldn’t expect: David Fincher‘s The Social Network has been blocked from advertising/marketing on…you guessed it Facebook — the very site that the film is based around.

This seems a little odd as the film is based on the creation of the social networking site and the ownership problems surrounding it. According to All Things Digital, Facebook has blocked Fincher’s film from marketing on the site itself due to its rule of not allowing outside advertisers reference Facebook itself — which is a little odd.

You would expect some wiggle room with this film but apparently, the site doesn’t take to well being portrayed in a bad light surrounding its founders. Facebook reps said that Sony was unwilling to play with the established law, but who blames them.
