Thanks to cast-member Michael Caine we now know that Batman 3 will start filming April of next year! We haven’t been given very much information concerning the film, but what we do know is that the film is still in the early stages. Director Christopher Nolan has kept relatively tight-liped, but what we last heard was that the script writing process had begun and shooting would be done for a 2012 release.
According to Variety, Caine who plays Alfred Pennyworth in the Batman films was quoted saying at a London Inception premiere that filming for Nolan’s third Batman will begin April 2011. Quote, I think they’re going to do it in April, but that’s about as much as I know.”
I would be wary though, Caine has be known to spin a few yarns about the third film saying way back in 2008 that the Riddler and the Penguin would be appearing in the third — rumors that have been hacked and slashed with denial ever since. What has been revealed is that Nolan is defiantly involved and that it will his third and final film in the Batman entries, and will be a conclusion to the story.
Nolan says, “Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story . . . I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters. My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don’t go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That’s what we do.”
It has been confirmed that Nolan’s brother Jonathan has been brought on to pen the script, which has been confirmed to be finished — hopefully with a full announcement as to a title and story in this years San Diego Comic-Con this month. Sony has yet to give the film the green-light, but a release is still set for July 20, 2012. As always stay tined for more info as it comes.
