Well, according to MarketSaw (who happens to run off Blogger also) Transformers director Michael Bay has finally give in to the charms of 3D — whether it be his or the studios choice we will never know; all I know is that Paramount has been pushing Bay to shoot in 3D for awhile now.
3D has become the ‘it’ factor in hollywood now with Avatar only reminding studios where theirs 3D, theirs money. Bay so far has managed to dodge the 3D factor, with his profit margins still as high as ever — there seems to be no need. With Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen marking the second highest grossing film earning over $836,297,228 worldwide.
This news comes from Vince Pace, who founded Pace 3D Technologies which supply 3D cameras. Pace had this to say “Trying to lay low and do what I do best. We took delivery of the first Alexa cameras for Hugo and have 23 more on the way. Transformers has also signed on to shoot 3D throughout the film. I am working on a big Disney film but can’t mention the name and are lining up five more films. Just wrapped on additional photography for Resident Evil and Tron. Currently in Hawaii and flying out to London for Hugo.”
Do you think its ok to force a director into filming in 3D just for money?
